The couple passed ownership along to their son, Michael, but Angelo and 'Mama' can still be found behind the counter - Angelo cranking out delicious pizza while Mama creates her own magic with the place's signature homemade soups.

They talked about their business, and their love for the community.

"It's a great community, it really is," Mama told Daily Voice. "People are really nice. ... It's cozy, it's away from everything, and we love it. We know most of our customers by name. We've been in the pizza business for 40 years (The Notaros had a pizza place in Yonkers prior to coming to Pawling)... a couple more years, and then we'll be retired," she said with a laugh.

"Mama," as she's known to her customers, said that it's more than just great food that's kept the place open for so long.

"The food is a big part of it," Mama said, "but we love kids, and kids love Mama. They love Mama... and they love my soup (pasta e fagioli). We're also know for our chicken parm, and fresh eggplant."

Mama then mentioned what might be the biggest key to their success.

"We're very friendly people," she said. "We treat everyone like... they're home."

Mama Pizza II is located at46 Charles Colman Blvd, Pawling.
