Dutchess Celebrates Independence Day With Riverside Celebration

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - It seemed like most of Dutchess County was on the Poughkeepsie waterfront Saturday night, as the city celebrated the Fourth of July with lots of activities prior to the night's highlight - a fireworks display near the Mid Hudson Bridge.

Two of the area's more popular restaurants - both with riverfront views - were packed, as those lucky enough to get a table were able to grab a bite and watch the fireworks at Shadows on the Hudson or the Poughkeepsie Ice House on the Hudson.

There was a small carnival set up in Waryas Park, as well as a skateboard park. The Children's Museum is nearby on the waterfront, there was live music in one area, and many more purchased tickets to view the fireworks from Walkway Over the Hudson.
