PAWLING, N.Y. – Organizers are looking for sponsors who may be willing to help with the Pawling Resource Center's annual Walk so They May Ride walkathon.

Registration for the walkathon, scheduled for Sept. 17, is to take place at 126 East Main Street at 9 a.m. on the day of the event, according to a statement from the Pawling Resource Center, or PRC.

The PRC offers a number of services to the community, including a transportation program that provides rides for Pawling residents in need of travel assistance to doctors appointments, according to an organization statement.

Last year, the program provided 981 such rides, offered food assistance to 1260 households, loaned out 238 medical items and provided about 130 rides for students.

Now in its ninth year, the walkathon aims to inform the local community about the PRC’s programs, which, according to organizers, have expanded in the past years. The event also will raise money to sustain current programs and develop others.

Organizers said a celebration will directly follow the walkathon to “honor and thank all those who have made the Pawling Resource Center a beacon of light and hope for those in need within the community.”

The PRC's 40th anniversary celebration at Lakeside Park is set to begin at 3 p.m.

Anyone who may wish to help sponsor the event – either as a company team or as an individual walker – should contact Terry Ariano, program coordinator, at 845-855-3459.
