MILLERTON, N.Y. -- The Moviehouse, in Millerton, is bringing an unprecedented film event, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, when both the protagonist and the director of "Snowden" will Skype with audiences from Moscow, following an advance screening of the film.

Fathom Events and Open Road Films are bringing this one-night event -- "Snowden Live" - to a handful of theaters nationwide, including The Moviehouse. Following the film, Edward Snowden and Oliver Stone will Skype from Russia, which has granted Snowden asylum.

"In this politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller, Academy Award-Winning director Oliver Stone tackles the most controversial, important and fascinating true story of the 21st century," organizers note.

"'Snowden' reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world."

Kieran Fitzgerald and Stone wrote the screenplay, and the movie features Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Snowden, Nicolas Cage, Tom Wilkinson, Shailene Woodley, Joely Richardson and Hudson Valley notable, Melissa Leo.

The movie opens to national audiences on Sept. 16.

Tickets are $18, or $16 for members. Buy them online here, or at the box office.

The screening will begin at 7 p.m. The Moviehouse is at 48 Main St., in Millerton.
