Chef And Farmer Brunch Challenge Comes To Millerton

MILLERTON, N.Y. -- Foodies will want to be sure to mark their calendars for Sunday, July 31, for the North East Community Center’s 6th annual Chef and Farmer Brunch Challenge featuring a friendly and fun competition between chefs from the TriCorner region.

Using ingredients from local farms, chefs will become contestants competing for the title of "Farm to Table Chef Champion." The event has sold out in past years.

In addition to awesome food, there will be live music by Hudson Valley’s traditional bluegrass band The Hayrollers, lawn games, and live and silent auctions. 

The Chef and Farmer Brunch Challenge will take place at Hotchkiss School’s Fairfield Farm in Lakeville, a new location with spectacular views: .

A panel of local celebrity judges will determine the Farm to Table Chef Champion: Dafna Mizrahi, Monte’s Local Kitchen & Tap Room Chef and “Chopped” Champion; Dan Kish, executive chef of Panera Bread; Joan Osofsky of Hammertown Barn; Dana Bowen, "Every Day with Rachel Ray" magazine; and Michael Harney, Harney & Sons Teas. 

Competition categories are best appetizer, best entree, best dessert, best table presentation, and Farm to Table Chef Champion. In addition to the celebrity judges, attendees will vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hotchkiss Fairfield Farm, 406 Sharon Road. Admssion is individual ticket: $65. gold ticket: $250. Table of 8: $1,000. Sponsor gold table: $2,500. Tickets are available at NECCMillerton.org or by calling (518)-789-4259

The Brunch Challenge theme mirrors NECC’s Meet the Challenge fundraising goal of $100,000, which will enable the organization to continue meeting the challenge of providing programs for at-risk teens, meals for children, and support for working families and the elderly.
