PAWLING, N.Y. -- Happy Birthday to Pawling’s James Earl Jones
The actor -- and the unmistakable voice of Darth Vader – was born in Arkabutta, Miss., Jan. 17, 1931.
Jones, known as one of America’s most distinguished and versatile actors, is currently starring in “The Gin Game” on Broadway.
He debuted on Broadway in 1957, and in the decades since has racked up a Tony Award, three Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for his role in “The Great White Hope.”
A pre-med major in college, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army before overcoming a childhood stutter through poetry, public speaking, and acting.
