The siren also used to summon firefighters when they are needed, has been down to be refurbished with a new motor.  With the help of members of the Mahopac and Carmel fire departments, and their expertise using their ladder trucks, the siren was removed, repaired and remounted.

Now back home where it belongs, the siren has been repainted and re-stenciled with the familiar "FDNY 343", a tribute to those lost on 9/11.

Residents can expect to hear their daily time reminder once again.
