Robert and Carol Sadlon are among the recipients of a 2016 Dutchess County Executive's Arts Award for their support and contribution to the arts in Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley region.

They were honored at a reception attended by Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, Arts Mid-Hudson members and civic leaders.

"We are fully committed to making the arts accessible to audiences in our area, and encouraging active participation in community discussion on important topics, brought to light through the cinema, performing and visual arts," the Sadlons said on receiving the award.

The Moviehouse has gone through many transformations since it first showed movies in 1912 when it was called the Millerton Opera House. The venue held Vaudeville shows, community plays and one room school house graduations.

The building restored by the Sadlons is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

The Moviehouse is a fully digital four-screen regional cinema arts and cultural center.

It showcases first run movies, independent films and documentaries, and is a venue for high speed streaming and live satellite of theater, opera, ballet, music, lectures, and art exhibitions.

In addition, there is a Moviehouse studio gallery that showcases local artists in four annual exhibitions.

The Moviehouse is at 48 Main St., Millerton.
