Volunteers from Soul Ryeders will be tying pink ribbons on trees, store windows and homes throughout Rye.
“The idea originally came from a friend and it is based on tying a yellow ribbon around a tree when soldiers return from war,” said co-chair Lisa Dominici Faries.
Proceeds go to the Wig Exchange, which provides wigs for people with cancer, and programs like Mondays with Soul Ryeders at the Beauty Bar in Rye Brook where cancer patients are treated to massages, haircuts and facials.
To date, Soul Ryeders has donated $200,000 in grants to Gilda’s Club of Westchester, Livestrong Rye YMCA, the Cancer Support Team, the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital fund which does outreach and Blythedale Children’s Hospital for leave-behind kits including coloring books.
