Dutchess Resident Named Central Hudson Senior VP

A Dutchess County resident has been appointed senior vice president of Engineering and System Operations for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation.

Paul E. Haering of Pleasant Valley “has proven to be a highly capable and effective executive,” said Margarita Dilley, chairwoman of Central Hudson’s Board of Directors.

Haering will continue executive responsibility for electric and natural gas engineering functions including system planning and design, substation and hydroelectric plant operations, project management and System Operations, and will maintain oversight of the energy company’s annual capital budget of approximately $200 million.

“Paul has consistently demonstrated his leadership in meeting customer needs through improvements in the electric and natural gas systems,” said Michael L. Mosher, President and CEO of Central Hudson. “He is effective in implementing new investments that will help modernize the electric and natural gas systems serving our Mid-Hudson Valley communities to improve system efficiency, storm resilience and service reliability. We look forward to his many contributions in the years ahead.”

Haering joined the company as a Junior Engineer in Substation Design in 1986.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College; earned a master's degree, also in Electrical Engineering, from Polytechnic University; is a graduate of the GE Power System Engineering Program; and earned an Executive MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Haering’s career within Central Hudson included service in Operations Services, Electric System Protection, Distribution Engineering and Electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering.

He was promoted to Manager of Electrical Engineering Services in 2004, Assistant Vice President of Engineering and Environmental Services in April 2007, and Vice President of Engineering and System Operations in 2011. He was recognized as the 2006 Manager of the Year for his leadership in implementing electric infrastructure investments, tree trimming and other electric service improvement initiatives.

Haering serves as a board member for Walkway Over the Hudson and is a board member and past chair of Poughkeepsie-based Family Services. 

He and his wife Lisa reside in Pleasant Valley with their two children, Matthew and Michelle.
