The Millerton rapper, whose real name is Ahmed McClennon, has been making a name for himself with his performances and songs throughout the region.

Buddha has family connections in the rap business and said he started taking it seriously several years ago. In 2011, he was crowd the top artist at a showcase in downtown Manhattan- just his second ever live performance. In 2012, he released his first mixtape "Conjure and Kush Blunts."

"Music has always been my first love," Buddha said.

Buddha said his music is all about giving off good vibes, and he draws inspiration from Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z and 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar and Kevin Gates. Michael Jackson is his all time favorite artist.

"I try not to go too political," Buddha said. "I'm just into making sure everyone is having a good time."

Right now, he said he enjoys listening to Lil' Uzi Vert and says Dutchess is starting to develop a strong rap scene.

"There are a lot of people in Dutchess making noise," Buddha said.

Buddha said his stage name was simply given to him and there's no backstory behind it. He said he is hoping to take his rap career as far as it will take him.

"I want more," Buddha said. "I want to be on top of the game. I have a great support system. This has been a long time in the making."
