PAWLING, N.Y. -- John P. Genn, vice president and senior trust officer for Tompkins Financial Advisors in Wappingers Falls, has been named as an elected officer with the Pawling Knights of Columbus, where he’s been a member for the past decade.

“The Knights of Columbus has served deserving families and people for more than 130 years,” said Genn, who lives in Pawling with his wife. “It is my honor to continue that tradition in my own community through the fellowship of the Pawling council as an elected officer.”

The Pawling Knights of Columbus is one of more than 15,000 councils, including 1.9 million members of Catholic men worldwide, dedicated to those in need.

Total charitable contributions from the Knights reached a new high at more than $173 million in 2014; volunteerism also rose to 71.5 million hours.

The Pawling council works to assist and improve its community while supporting the Catholic Church through camaraderie and service to others.

Genn is also director of Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council, a board member of Astor Family Services, and a member of the Legislative Action Committee for the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
