Beekman residents worried about the recent tax law passed by Congress and how it will affect their taxes next year can prepay their 2018 town taxes in just a few simple steps, according to the Dutchess County government.
Because the new tax reform bill caps state and local property tax deductions at $10,000, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-New Castle) issued an executive order last week allowing New York state property owners to pre-pay their 2018 school and local property taxes so they can deduct them from their federal income tax this year.
To prepay, follow the step below.
- Go to http://www.dutchessny.gov/TaxRollsPDF/countytown/2017/RPbeekman18.pdf , to find the amount of taxes you owe.
- Make a check out to the Beekman Receiver of Taxes
- Mail to Town Hall, 4 Main St., Poughquag, NY 12570 4.
All prepay taxes must be postmarked by Dec. 30.
