Members of the East Fishkill Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to Morat Lane shortly after 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, where there was a report of an explosion.

Upon arrival, police said that officers observed structural damage in the mobile home and the strong scent of marijuana. While investigating the incident, neighbors told police that the owner’s son fled the scene before officers arrived at their mobile home.

There were no injuries reported in the explosion.

Police said that there was no fire, but an explosion in the kitchen caused the damage to the home. Further investigation determined that the home was not being used as a residence, but as a marijuana growing and processing operation.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force and East Fishkill Police secured multiple marijuana plants, products and paraphernalia. Fire investigators determined that the explosion occurred inside the refrigerator, where they suspect marijuana wax was being stored or processed.

No suspect has been arrested, and the owner’s son has not been located. The incident is actively being investigated. Anyone with information regarding the grow house has been asked to contact police by calling (845) 221-2111.
