PAWLING, N.Y. -- Teens gathered in the Pawling Library courtyard on Saturday, March 12, to learn about dogs and animal shelters from Arlene of the Dutchess County SPCA and her dog, Clay.
After talking about safe dog handling, how animal shelters work, adoptions and how to volunteer, the teens made handmade dog and cat toys that went back to the shelter.
She also brought back donations of dog treats, blankets and toys the library had collected.
The mission of the Dutchess County SPCA is to rescue, shelter and secure permanent homes for adoptable companion animals; advocate for the highest standards of animal care; and enforce animal cruelty laws throughout Dutchess County.
