Firefighters responded around 1 p.m. to the marina in Hyde Park where they found a boat fully on fire with danger to the dock area, said Chief Christopher Maeder.

The two people on the boat were able to escape when the fire began to spread, but did receive minor injuries. They were transported to a local hospital by Mobile Life Support Services, Maeder said.

Fairview firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire with the assistance of City of Poughkeepsie’s Marine unit. The department also set up booms to make sure any gases or oil from the boat and fueling station were contained, he added.

In addition to the City of Poughkeepsie and Mobile Life Support Services, assisting at the scene was the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office, Ulster County Sheriffs Office, Hyde Park Police Department, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, and NYS DEC Spill Response.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.
