RED HOOK, N. Y. -- A 19-year-old Long Island woman is facing traffic charges following a two-car accident at the intersection of 9G and West Kerley Corners roads on Saturday, April 2, in Red Hook that left the woman's passenger with injuries, police said.
Red Hook police said Cornelia Channing, 19, of Long Island, was traveling west from West Kerley Corners Road to Broadway when her 2010 Audi hit a 2011 Volkswagen driven by a 51-year-old Rhineback man. Both drivers were not injured, but Channing's passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to Northern Dutchess hospital with injuries, police said.
The 5:50 p.m. accident was seen by a Red Hook police officer, police said. Police charged Channing with failure to yield and having an unregistered car, police said.
The accident caused heavy damage to both cars, so police were assisted at the scene by Tivoli Fire Department and Northern Dutchess paramedics, police said.
