She was nicknamed “Bunny” to her friends and “Grandma Bunny” to her family.

Her nickname may have been the greatest misnomer of all time. She wasn’t warm and fuzzy. She was stubborn, she was fierce, and she didn’t take nonsense from anyone.

She knew what she wanted, then she got what she wanted, and she taught her children, her grandchildren, and just about everyone else she ever met exactly what a feminist looks like.

She was born in Poughkeepsie; she raised her three children in Poughkeepsie; she graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, and went on to work there, too. She was a political animal. As a little girl she once met Franklin Delano Roosevelt, though she would have preferred to shake the hand of his wife.

Like her hero Eleanor, she devoted her life to fighting for the downtrodden. She ran Congressman Hamilton Fish, Jr.’s district office, and in 1971 she took the role of executive director of the Planned Parenthood League of Dutchess-Ulster Counties.

She is survived by her daughter Michal; daughter-in-law Erica; grandchildren Jessie and Aaron; and many other family members.

Services and burial are private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc.
