Visiting hours are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, in Hopewell Junction.

Funeral services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, 15 North Ave., in Millbrook, one week before the Arlington High School senior was due to graduate.

Colon was driving a car with his best friend, 17-year-old Ryan Mucci when they crashed off Todd Hill Road and hit a tree.

Mucci, 17, also an Arlington High senior, died June 1 from injuries, state police said.

Colon, born in Brooklyn on June 2, 1999, was planning to attend Dutchess Community College in August.

He enjoyed working with his hands, building and fixing things, cooking, and landscaping. He worked at the Millbrook Diner, where everyone loved his humor, and courteous and kind service. He will be greatly missed by everyone there.

He is survived by his parents, Frederick and Toni Ann (Kulpowsky) Colon; his brother and sister who were also his best friends, Erick and Jillian Colon; his grandmothers, Margaret Kulpowsky and Maryann Vanzo, both of Brooklyn; his black pug, Onyx; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Walter Kulpowsky, Alfredo Colon, and Frank Vanzo.

Colon was spiritual and generous, and was a blood donor. His family decided that he would have wanted his organs to be donated to help save other lives. They also donated his pancreas to diabetic research since he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when he was 4.

His family would like to extend special thanks to everyone at the Acropolis Diner, where he ate frequently while visiting his mom at work, and enjoyed their matzo ball soup.
