PAWLING, N.Y. -- Hunter Miles Karen, a resident of Pawling and formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, May 10. He was 19.

Born March 2, 1997, in the state of Washington, he was the son of Hal Karen and the late Tammy Lynn (Sapin) Karen. He attended Liberty schools and in 2015 graduated from Trinity-Pawling School, where he was a member of the squash, baseball and soccer teams. He attended Michigan State University and was a member of the AEPI fraternity.

He spent many summers at the Winston Summer Camp in Monticello, where he eventually became a counselor. He had a special gift for mentoring the younger campers, for whom he was their caring protector.

He is survived by his father, Hal Karen; his paternal grandmother, Helga Karen of Ferndale; and his half-sister, uncles, aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Christ Church on Quaker Hill, Pawling.
