Megan Carolyn Petershagen Of Hyde Park Dies Unexpectedly At 20

Megan Carolyn Petershagen of Hyde Park died unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 16 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 20.

Born on Aug. 29, 1997 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Harold and Lisa (Vander-Werff) Petershagen. Megan was a graduate of FDR High School in Hyde Park and completed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program through Dutchess County BOCES.

She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Staatsburg.

In addition to her parents, Megan is survived by her brother, Eddie Petershagen, and his significant other, Johnna Murphy, both of Hyde Park; maternal grandmother, Maureen VanderWerff, of Wappingers Falls; paternal grandmother, Anneliese Petershagen, of Wappingers Falls; boyfriend, Nick Belding, of Hyde Park; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Papa Harald Petershagen.

Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 at Sweet’s Funeral Home, on Route 9 in Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21st at St. Martin De Porres Parish, 118 Cedar Valley Rd. in Poughkeepsie.
