Nancy Elaine Cole, 81, Longtime Millbrook Resident

MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Nancy Elaine Cole, a longtime resident of Millbrook, died on Saturday, March 26. She was 81.

Born in Poughkeepsie, Cole was the youngest of seven children. She was raised in Pleasant Valley and attended Arlington Schools. She was a homemaker who also had several part-time jobs, including working in the kitchen at both the Cottonwood Inn and Daniele's Restaurant in Millbrook.

Cole also worked in the cafeteria at Millbrook High School and cared for several elderly people in Millbrook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching, local concerts, canning and making her famous homemade pies and jams. She was a member of Lyall Memorial Federated Church and FWSCS.

She is survived by her daughters, Harriet Cole of Millbrook, Elizabeth Colen and her husband Peter of Pleasant Valley, and Dorothy Myler and her husband Patrick of Poughkeepsie; granddaughters Melissa and Meghan Myler of Poughkeepsie; brother Robert Plass of Pleasant Valley; sister Ruth Henry and her husband Walter of Hamburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cole was predeceased by her husband, Robert Cole, parents Edward and Louise Hamburg Plass; and siblings June Sherow, Ann Nelson, Barbara Enders and Bristow Plass.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., in Millbrook. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Lyall Memorial Federated Church, 30 Maple Ave., in Millbrook. Interment will follow at the Verbank Cemetery, in Verbank, with a luncheon immediately following at the church.
