An area man was busted by state police for extorting and attempting to extort money from underage teenage girls.

Kenneth H. Ralph, 23, of Wallkill, was arrested on Wednesday grand larceny, attempted grand larceny, unlawfully dealing with a child and petit larceny, said New York State Trooper Steven Nevel.

An investigation revealed that Ralph met with several underage teens through social media and gave them alcohol. After the encounter, Ralph would extort or attempt to extort money from them, Nevel said.

The state police were assisted by the Campus Sexual Assault Victims Unit, SUNY New Paltz University Police and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.

Ralph is being held without bail at the Ulster County Jail pending a future court appearance.

The State Police are asking anyone with information related to contact State Police at 845-691-2922
