Officials said troopers noticed Kiely leaving the Dover Knolls Development II carrying what appeared to be light fixtures. The officers pursued Kiely who had re-entered the former Wingdale Psychiatric Center building, police said. Following a brief foot pursuit, Kiely was taken into custody, police said.
In addition to the burglary charge, Kiely also was charged with possession of burglar's tools, a class A misdemeanor.
Kiely was arraigned before the Town of Dover Justice Court and sent to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $15,000 bond. He is due to return Oct. 19 to Dover Court.
