Dover Man Charged With Assault, Strangulation After Domestic Incident

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Dutchess County man has been charged with assault and strangulation after state police from the Dover barracks investigated a past domestic incident.

The incident occurred between the reporting victim and 28-year-old Nicholas D. Zagarella, state police said.

Zagarella has been charged with second-degree strangulation (a Class D felony) and third-degree assault (a Class A misdemeanor).

Zagarella was arraigned before the Dover Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. He is next scheduled to appear before the Dover Justice Court on Oct. 17.
