Officers from the Red Hook Police Department were dispatched to Mill Road Elementary School on Friday, Sept. 8, where there were reports of a wallet that was stolen from a car during student pickup, prompting an investigation.
Following a weeklong investigation, police determined that 32-year-old Red Hook resident Zachary Croce - who has previously been charged with multiple counts of conspiracy and petit larceny stemming back to an incident in 2015 - was a suspect, prompting his arrest.
Police said that during the course of the investigation, Couse was interviewed and subsequently admitted to stealing the wallet from the vehicle parked outside the elementary school.
Couse was processed and arraigned on the grand larceny charge and issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge in the Town of Red Hook Court next week.
