Dutchess Woman Attacks Victim In Fishkill Plaza, Steals Purse, Police Say

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - A Wappingers Falls woman is facing felony charges for allegedly attacking a woman and stealing her purse in front of a child.

State Police announced Tuesday that Sonia Santiago, 56, was arrested by troopers on felony robbery charges for her role in an incident that took place at Fishkill Plaza over the weekend.

According to police, shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, troopers were dispatched to the parking lot at the plaza on Route 9 for reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police determined that Santiago attacked a woman and stole her purse in front of her child.

Santiago was arrested and arraigned at the Village of Fishkill Court on charges of third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on Monday, Jan. 30.
