Deputies from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office stopped Poughkeepsie resident Shaarod Ford shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning for speeding on Noxon Road.
During the subsequent stop, deputies said that it was determined that Ford was intoxicated and was in possession of a loaded handgun with a large capacity magazine. It was the second time Ford has been arrested for DWI in the past 10 years.
Ford was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies. He was also cited for speeding.
Following arraignment, Ford was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is due back in the Town of LaGrange Court later this year to answer the charges.
