Family members yesterday identified a bicycle found abandoned on the outer railing of the bridge as belonging to Paul J. Kim, whose body was recovered a short time later by the city Harbor Patrol Unit near the Intrepid Museum.

A passerby said that he saw Kim riding the bike toward New Jersey on the bridge’s south walk around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT yesterday.

Moments later, the passersby came upon the abandoned bicycle and notified the PAPD.

An initial search by the harbor patrol and Port Authority Police Emergency Services Unit found nothing.

The body found at the Intrepid showed up a short time later.

Authority officials this afternoon ruled Kim’s death a suicide.
