New York State Police troopers on patrol in Southeast observed a vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Danbury resident Tyler Potenziani, making several traffic infractions, prompting a vehicle and traffic stop.

During the traffic stop, police said that the Connecticut license plate on the vehicle was stolen and the vehicle was unregistered. Potenziani and his passenger, 35-year-old Waterbury, Conn. resident Jovanny Gutierrez were also found to be in possession of cocaine and rolled up one dollar bills that contained cocaine residue.

Police said that during the stop, Potenziani provided a breath sample that showed his blood alcohol content was greater than three times the legal limit. Gutierrez additionally had a bench warrant out for his arrest in New York City.

Potenziani was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, aggravated driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. He was also charged with disorderly conduct and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

Gutierrez was charged with misdemeanor counts of violation of criminal procedure law, failing to surrender to a bench warrant, criminal possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct, a violation.

Potenziani was released on his own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket. Gutierrez was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. Both men are due back in court next month to answer the charges.
