The man left his black VW on the eastbound upper level, climbed over the railing and jumped around noon, the Port Authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

An NYPD Harbor Unit recovered the body and took it to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Pentangelo said.

Pronouncement was made at 1:30 p.m, he said.

It was the fifth GWB suicide of 2015 (one every 22 days).

Eighteen people jumped to their deaths from the span last year (one every 20 days), in addition to 74 “interventions” in which Port Authority police talked someone down or away from the ledge.
