New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks have arrested 32-year-old Poughkeepsie resident Hakin Muhammad on a charge of first-degree criminal contempt following an incident over the weekend.
Troopers were dispatched to West Merritt Boulevard in Fishkill at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, where there were reports of fight in the area. Police said that the subsequent investigation determined that Muhammad had violated an order of protection by starting a physical altercation with a protected party.
Muhammad was subsequently arrested with an assist from the Town of Fishkill Police Department. He was arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 property bond. Muhammad is due back in court on Wednesday to answer the charges.
