Man Charged With DWI, Breaking Into LaGrange Home During Domestic Dispute

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - A 42-year-old man from Dutchess County was arrested after allegedly driving drunk to a LaGrange residence, forcibly entering the home and burglarizing it.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, state police troopers were dispatched to the LaGrange residence, where there was a reported domestic dispute. During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that Poughkeepsie resident Brendan McGrath had forcibly and unlawfully entered his victim’s home without consent.

According to the police, troopers also learned that McGrath had driven to his victim’s home while he was intoxicated and that his driving privileges had previously been suspended for a DWI charge dating back to October last year.

McGrath was charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal mischief, driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He was arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is due back in court on Tuesday, March 28.
