New York State Department of Transportation workers traveling on the Taconic State Parkway observed guide wire damage on the shoulder of the roadway. After further examination, they observed a vehicle into a wooded area at the same location.

Troopers conducting a separate car/deer collision in the area responded to the crash site and observed a 2005 Subaru Impreza down an embankment.

An investigation revealed that Stephen Feinman of Hillsdale was traveling southbound when he exited the roadway for an unknown reason.

Feinman was freed from the vehicle by Ghent Fire Department and airlifted to Albany Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, said New York State Police.
