Man Speeding In Dutchess School Zone Was Drunk, Police Say

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- A Rhinecliff man traveling twice the speed limit in a school zone on Rockefeller Lane was charged with DWI, Red Hook Police said.

Kevin E. Conklin, 58,  was charged with aggravated DWI, and two counts of drunken driving, as well as speeding in a school zone, an infraction. 

A patrol officer observed a vehicle traveling 50 MPH in a 25 MPH school zone on Rockefeller Lane in front of the Red Hook Mill Road Elementary School on Tuesday around 12:55 p.m., Red Hook Police said.

Conklin then provided a breath sample following his arrest which resulted in a .19% blood alcohol content, over twice the legal limit, police said. He was processed and released on tickets with a future court date.
