New York State Police troopers arrested 38-year-old Millbrook resident Danielle Hughes on Oct. 8 for possession of cocaine, for which she was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail by the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court.

Police said that Hughes told troopers that she had secured a babysitter prior to leaving the house that evening that was tasked with caring for her children. Troopers were later alerted by Hughes’ ex-husband that he found the children outside of their home later that day, searching for their mother.

In addition to the drug possession charge, Hughes is now facing a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. She was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in the Town of Washington Justice Court next month to answer the charges.
