New York State Police troopers were contacted by Columbia County 911 to report a burglary on Elm Street in Livingston on Thursday. Troopers arrived shortly after the suspect, 27-year-old Pine Plains resident Steven Beers, fled and were informed that Beers knew his victim.

An investigation into the incident led to Beers’ arrest on Friday. Beers was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is due back in the Town of Livingston Justice Court next month to answer the charge.
