EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- East Fishkill police say they were able to save the life of a 39-year-old man this week who had overdosed on heroin.
Officers were called to a residence in the Lake City development late Tuesday where they found the unconscious victim.
An unidentified person at the scene told police they had already tried to revive the victim with naloxone, a drug that reverses the effects of opioid intoxication.
Officers administered a second dose of Narcan, another name for the same medication, and “within minutes” the man was sitting up and being treated by Mobile Life Paramedics and the East Fishkill Rescue Squad, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Poughkeepsie where he is expected to recover, police said.
