Four rifles were found at the home of a 16-year-old boy after officials say he threatened to initiate a school shooting in Northern Westchester.

State Police from the Somers barracks in conjunction with the North Castle Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney's Office arrested Luke W. Visser of Chappaqua on Saturday, May 12 and charged him with making a Terroristic threat, a Class D felony, and for aggravated harassment, a Class A misdemeanor.

Investigators at the New York State Intelligence Center received information, via hotline, that Visser had made threats to initiate a school shooting at the Westfield Day School in Armonk.

A subsequent investigation by the North Castle Police Department and the New York State Police revealed that Visser had made several threats via texts to another student, including sending a photograph of himself holding what appeared to be a rifle, police said.

Visser was located at his residence in Chappaqua and admitted to making the threats, according to police. He was subsequently arrested by state police. Four legally owned rifles were located at the residence, and they were subsequently removed from the residence by the State Police.

“We take school threats very seriously and will continue working closely with New York State Police and other law enforcement agencies to keep our children safe," Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. says. "In this case, we commend the New York State Police Intelligence Center and North Castle Police Department for their swift action.”

Visser was arraigned in the Town of North Salem Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear before the Town of Somers Court on Monday, May 14.
