The line-up of calls began Wednesday around 7:40 p.m. when firefighters responded to the Shady Brook Trailer Park at 67 Old Manchester Road for a reported burning odor in the wall. The first fire department unit arrived on the scene within minutes of the initial dispatch and confirmed an active fire in the wall. The fire was under control in less than 30 minutes, according to Chief Tory Gallante.
Three occupants and one dog were inside the trailer at the time of the fire and self-evacuated prior to fire department arrival. The trailer sustained moderate damage and four occupants and one dog were displaced as a result of the incident, Gallante said.
Assisting at the scene included the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Services, the town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the town's building department and Central Hudson Gas & Electric.
The next fire took place two hours later, at 9:45 p.m., Wednesday, when firefighters responded to a house fire at 32 A Spring Road, the chief said.
Units arrived on scene within minutes and confirmed an active fire in the single-family residence.
Four occupants were inside the structure at the time of the fire and self-evacuated prior to fire department arrival. No civilian injuries were reported. Two firefighters received minor injuries and treated at the scene, they were not transported to the hospital.
The structure sustained severe damage and five residents were displaced.
Assisting at the scene of the fire were the New Hamburg Fire District, Mobile Life Support Services, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, building officials and officials with county emergency response, along with Central Hudson Gas & Electric, Gallante said.
The final fire call took place at 9:59 a.m. Thursday at 16 Mews Alley for smoke in a house. The first unit arrived on the scene within three minutes and encountered an active fire on the first floor of the single-family home, Gallante said.
The fire was under control within 10 minutes of fire department arrival.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and was discovered when one of the residents arrived home. No civilian or emergency responder injuries were reported. The structure sustained moderate damage and six people were displaced.
Assisting at the scene included the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
All three fires were determined to be accidental and electrical in nature, the chief said.
The displaced families were being helped by the Red Cross.
