A Louisiana trucker was caught covering his license plates with plastic film in an attempt to avoid the George Washington Bridge toll this morning, the Port Authority said.
Johnnie L. Whittie, 51, of Ferriday, LA drove a 2011 Volvo tractor-trailer through the EZ pass lane, activating a “toll unpaid” sign that caught the attention of PAPD Officer Ed Berdecia, who was standing nearby, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
A computer check showed the vehicle wasn’t registered.
Whittie was charge with theft of service and tampering with public records and was issued summonses.
