Two Dover Plains Men Charged In Home Burglary

DOVER, N.Y. -- Two Dover men are facing felony burglary charges following a New York State Police investigation into a report Monday of suspicious men seen leaving a Dover house, police said.

Nicholas Gast, 29, and Steven C. Franco II, 25, both of Dover, were arrested Monday and charged with second-degree felony burglary, police said. They are both being held on bond pending a 3 p.m. Friday court date, police said.

Troopers said they got a report about 1 p.m. Monday through Dutchess County 911 about two men leaving a home on Gobblers Knob carrying bags. Police said their investigation showed the men had taken items from the house.

Gast is being held in Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond, police said. Franco is also in Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond, police said. 

Both men may face additional charges as police continue investigating burglaries on Gobblers Knob Road and Old Pauling Road. Anyone with information about burglaries in the area can call state police at 845-677-7300.
