Shaun M. Williams, 33, of Poughkeepsie and Christopher Frenyea-White, 34, of Amenia, were arrested and charged when troopers stopped a U-Haul truck after noticing two children on the passenger's lap.

Troopers discovered that the U-Haul truck had been reported stolen by the Poughkeepsie Police Department in August, and Williams, the vehicle's passenger, said he rented the truck in June and simply hadn't returned it.

Williams was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and marijuana possession, and Frenyea-White was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, traffic tickets for not having the children secured and third-degree unlicensed operation.

Both men were issued appearance tickets and will appear in Dover Justice Court on Jan. 11.
