New York State Police troopers from the Dover Plains barracks stopped 40-year-old Wappingers Falls resident Ali Hedhili at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday morning after spotting him committing multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

During the subsequent stop, police said that Hedhili observed the odor of alcohol on the driver and he showed “obvious signs of physical impairment on his part.” He proceeded to fail several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and refused to take a breathalyzer.

It was determined that Hedhili had three previous convictions for DWI, including one for aggravated DWI. He was also found to have a revoked license due to the previous DWI convictions.

Hedhili was charged with felony counts of driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said that due to state law concerning his charges, Hedhili was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is due to appear in the Town of Pawling Court on Jan. 11 to answer the charges.
