Witnesses see man jump from GWB, body recovered

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: As several witnesses watched in horror, a man stopped his car on the George Washington Bridge this morning, got out and jumped over the side.

His body was recovered below the bridge within an hour of the 11:25 a.m. leap, Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. It was taken to Ross Dock on the New Jersey side, he said.

The man’s Volkwagen was recovered, as well, Pentangelo said.

The Bergen County Medical Examiner was expected to conduct an autopsy today or tomorrow.
