Ferne M. Peterson, of Fishkill, was arrested around 8:20 a.m. after troopers responded to the collision on the southbound side of the Parkway in Dutchess, said Trooper Melissa McMorris.

Peterson was traveling in a 2006 Jeep when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the guide rail. An investigation revealed Peterson was impaired by drugs at the time of the crash, McMorris said.

Peterson was charged with felony DWAI-Drugs when a criminal history check revealed a previous DWI related conviction from 2012.

She was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 23.
