Molinaro Signs Measure To Cut Solar Energy Tax

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Dutchess County residents who use solar energy will save money under a new a resolution signed into law Thursday by Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro.

Passed by the Legislature on Monday, Aug. 14., the resolution makes residential solar energy exempt from county sales taxes.

The plan, which goes into effect March 1, 2018, is estimated to save taxpayers more than $175,000 in 2018. 

Legislator John Forman, the main sponsor of the resolution, said the legislation was a major step toward incentivizing renewable energy.

During the signing, Molinaro thanked Forman and the entire Legislature for their leadership in making renewable energy a priority, while helping taxpayers save money.
