Murphy Wins Special Election For Washington Town Board Seat

WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- Michael E. Murphy has won the special election to serve out the remainder of a term for a vacant council seat on the Washington Town Board.

With all four election districts reporting, unofficial results from the Dutchess County Board of Elections show Murphy with 1,079 votes (60.14 percent), while opponent Thomas M. Hurley received 715 votes (39.86 percent).

Murphy ran as a Republican while Hurley ran as a Democrat.
