Dutchess County Housing Market Shows Signs Of Recovery

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The market for single-family detached homes is doing well and showing recovery for the local housing market, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

From May 2015 to 2016, there was a 25.2 percent increase in volume of sales from 151 to 189 units and the year-to-date volume through May also saw a 25.7 percent increase from 635 to 798 units, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Purchase offers rose from 234 to 285, a 21.8 percent increase from May 2015 to 2016 and the market also saw a decrease in median sale price. The median sale price in May saw a four percent dip over last May, down to $237,000 from $247,000 which has been dropping every year since 2011, where the price was $250,000, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
