PINE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Stissing Mountain High School celebrated its Class of 2016 on Saturday at its annual commencement.
Members of this year's class assembled in a gym at the school, marched down the hallway and assembled inside the auditorium, which was filled with onlookers.
Pine Plains school board President Fred "Chip" Crouse gave the first speech at the commencement. Delivering this year's speech to the students was high school teacher Stephen DeLuca, who, it was noted, will be retiring this year after a 40-year academic career.
Student Frances Vu was named to deliver an essay at the commencement, while Crystal Erin Clancy was named this year's salutatorian. Kathryn Hanlon was named as this year's valedictorian.
